Favell Bevan-Arti

Born in Kenya, Favell has travelled and lived in a variety of places – Italy, where she gained her Fine Arts Diploma at the Florence Academy of Fine Arts, Sweden, Finland and the U.S.A. Until quite recently she was living in Northern Cyprus, where she achieved recognition for her work portraying local people and scenery.

In 1998 she moved to England and now lives in Sidmouth, Devon. She travels to Finland every year and enjoys painting Finnish landscapes under the special lighting conditions that prevail there at midsummer.

She has shown her work in local galleries and at various local exhibitions, where she has won a number of awards.

Favell has painted numerous portraits including both private and military commissions. Her work is well represented in private and public collections throughout the world, including various military establishments in the U.K. and Canada, the Parliament House of Northern Cyprus, and the personal collection of the then President of Northern Cyprus, Rauf Denktas.

Favell takes private drawing and pastel classes. Her teaching is inspired by the fact it is possible for anybody to draw when they learn a few key ideas.
