Norman Bolwell

Norman Bolwell was born in Birmingham in 1938. Although a Midlander and born a long way from the sea, Norman has always had a strong feel for it. His natural ability for drawing and creativity was noticed at an early age. However, circumstances did not permit an art school education.

After working for many years in public service Norman finally took up painting full time. Entirely self taught he has achieved a standard of quality in his work which is comparable to his heroes. His admoration for artists such as William Lionel Wylie, Norman Wilkinson, Montague Dawson and more recently John Stobart, Seven Dews and the famous French artists Marin Marie has grown as has their influence on his work.
