Colin Blackmore
I loved art day at school and it was here that matters progressed. I won a small book at the school prize day for my artistic endeavours. My father was a very competent artist but did not give me undue encouragement. In spite of being encouraged at school to pursue painting and drawing, I found wider interests until much later.
At around the age of 30 I took up painting again somewhat spasmodically upon moving to Weymouth in Dorset. Here, I found the need to paint the sea in all its moods, mostly oil on hardboard. This lasted for some five years when a move to Yeovil in Somerset occurred to further my employment. Other activities took prior importance until I retired.
Upon retiring in my late fifties I joined several art groups and I was now painting in differing media, watercolour, pastel, oil on canvas. Recently I have embraced the air brush technique which is a new dimension and great fun.
As a member of the Lyme Regis Art Group I have been awarded the best Water Colour Certificate and held the Silver Cup four times, highly commended water colour once and the Presidents award for pastel.
