Judy Lusted
Drawing and painting is a passion for me . I am very fortunate living on the beautiful sandy dunes of Gwithian Towans looking out to Godrevy Lighthouse ,sharing my home with a long suffering husband, 4 dogs, Cracker, Belle, Floyd and Judge, 2 pygmy goats Billy and Micky,1 hen Matilda and two chicks and numerous ducks!!! Dogs are an integral part of my life, large, small, wiry, fluffy, smooth, Heinz fifty sevens pure breeds, I have lived with them all!!!. Each character has made a lasting impression and has enriched our lives with humour and love. Although I draw mainly my own dogs present and past I also come across characters which immediately I feel a connection with and feel compelled to draw them.
Judy studied sculpture at Chelsea College of Arts and life drawing with Clive Garland at Camberwell School of Arts. Abstraction developed in Judy’s work under the tutorage of Roy Oxlade. This background in sculpture and drawing has enabled her to develop a unique style. Drawing from memories stimulating her imagination she embarks on a journey of spontaneous mark making. The artist said,” Working spontaneously provides raw exciting imagery. From the initial source I make choices and decisions on how the work is to evolve based upon my knowledge and experience”. After completing her Masters at Falmouth College of Arts last year Judy has been active in promoting spontaneous mark making, based on her writing “Inspirational Awareness”, she works collaboratively with local hospitals, schools and the general public. Judy has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions and has had a recent solo show.
