Barbara Turner Jones
I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. After my formal training at Exeter College of Art in the late 60s (BA Hons in Fine Art) I moved to Cornwall where I began to develop my work.
I work primarily in acrylics, a relatively new and vibrant medium which gives me the flexibility I need to express my vision. In addition I add decoupage (cutouts in the tradition of Matisse) to my paintings both to emphasise key elements and to guard against unauthorised copying. There will be no mistake that you own the original.
Light and colour are my inspiration. The clear light of Cornwall and the golden light of Provence inspire my paintings and bring out a subjective experience of colour that is, for me, what painting is about.
My work is in collections in the UK and internationally including Australia and the USA.
I am happy to accept commissions based on the subjects I depict.
The paintings in this selection come from a series of minimalist seascapes that capture the moods of the sea – my continual inspiration.
