Geoff Powell

Geoff Powell

I started drawing and painting at the age of two and on and off for thirty years. It was then that I started painting seriously at the age of 33.  Being self-taught I am free of the expectations and limitations of a teacher.

I could write about my work in an arty way, but why?
You see in a painting a reflection of your mind. It is a great mistake to interpret what the artist had in mind when he or she made the work.

Mark Rothko: " A picture lives by companionship, expanding and quickening in the eyes of the sensitive observer. It dies by the same token. It is therefore a risky and unfeeling act to send it into the world "

Collectors of my paintings have proven the risk worth taking.
